Be inspired within a one-hour journey through the evolution of jazz and its influences on some of the celebrated songs and artists inspired by the Civil Rights Movement. Taking us on this musical journey is four-time Grammy-nominated arranger, orchestrator, and producer, Shelly Berg. A celebrated jazz pianist, Shelly is Dean and Patricia L. Frost Professor of Music at the University of Miami’s acclaimed Frost School of Music. From the keyboard, Shelly sounds his deeply-inspired interpretations, the freedom that jazz embodies, and the spring of hope it swells within humankind: “Free at last!” Mark your calendars now for this special Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration and FREE concert. Cans of food and free-will donations will be accepted for Feeding South Florida. Brief, all-embracing words of freedom will be included. You and everyone you know will be welcomed!
